Just another day in Iraq...

...But wouldn't the indiscriminate shooting of eight — eight — civilians in broad daylight in this country by a trigger-happy "private security" agency cause an unparalleled storm of public anger and outraged column inches?

Too fucking right. For starters, it'd bump our Accidental Civilian Deaths By Horrible Bloody Murder With The Guns And The Screaming And God Fucking Help Us quotient up by about 800% — an editorial rival for dear little Maddie if ever there was one.

Heck, we might even go nuts on the tributes: screw scribblings on footy shirts, how about an eight-minute silence before Rio and co. kick off the next all-important PremierCashMatch? God forbid we'd stint, in any case...

But I digress. I really should have caught that Trigger Happy TV re-run last night — it's the only thing that keeps my sense of perspective balanced.
